- In 1977 graduated from the Economics Department of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (Moscow). In 1987, he underwent retraining at the Moscow Plekhanov Institute of National Economy with a degree in logistics management. A. Dzhaksybekov is a Candidate of Economic Sciences.
- From 1988 to 1995 he led the diversified corporation Tsesna. In 1995 was elected to the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 1996 A. Dzhaksybekov was appointed first deputy akim of the Akmola region.

From June 2003 to December 2004 – Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Since December 19, 2004 – Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
