- Follower of Almaty football school, who once started in FC ADK (Almaty house-building plant), he blossomed in FC Kairat in the 80s, for which he received an invitation to Moscow Spartak. At the beginning of Kazakhstan’s sovereignty he was in FC Kairat, with whom he won the Championship and the Cup.
- He became the top scorer (Kairat) of the 1992 season – 13 goals in 33 championship matches and 6 goals in 5 Cup games. These indicators became a strong argument in favor of Volgin to be named the Best Footballer of the Year according to the FA of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
