- Futsal is a ball game between two teams played indoors. According to international standards, the dimensions of the site for matches are: length 38-42 m, width 20-25 m. Duration of the match – 2 halves of 20 minutes of «clean» time. The ball used is smaller than when playing football on grass. On the court (parquet) there are 2 teams of 4 field players and a goalkeeper. Substitutions are made during the match, their number is not limited. There is no offside in futsal. Gate size – 3×2 (m).

- The national team of Kazakhstan is a participant in the world championships (2000, 2016, 2021). The highest achievement is 4th place (2021).

- The most famous players of the Kazakhstan national futsal team: Dinmukhambet Suleimenov, Chingiz Yesenamanov, Leo Igita, Serik Zhamankulov, Douglas, Tainan, Dauren Nurgozhin, Dauren Tursagulov, Birzhan Orazov (top scorer of the 2022 European Championship – 7 goals), etc.
- At the club level of AFC (Almaty Futsal Club) Kairat holds the record for victories in the Kazakhstan championship (20 in a row) from 2003 to the present.
- AFK Kairat – winner of the UEFA Champions League (2012-2013, 2014-2015); winner of the Intercontinental Cup (2014); winner of the Eremenko Cup (4 record) – 2014-2018; winner of the International Futsal Tournament Record International Masters Cup (2023).
- Futsal is very popular among young people. In 2018, the Kazakhstan student team took 2nd place at the World Student Futsal Championship in Almaty.
