National team of Kazakhstan

  • Head coach of the national team of Kazakhstan in the period 1995 to 1997. Under his leadership, in 1996 the national team won the International Tournament in Iran – the Nagshe Jahan Cup.
  • National team played in the 7th group of the AFC Asian Cup qualification and took 3rd place out of 3, letting the teams of Qatar and Syria go ahead.
  • The following year, the team led by S. Berdalin won the IX group of the 1st round of the 1998 AFC XV World Cup qualification, in which the teams of Iraq and Pakistan took part, gaining a 100% score.
  • In the final round of qualifying for the 1998 AFC XV World Cup in group «B», the Kazakhstan team took 5th place out of 5 teams, losing to the teams of Uzbekistan, the United Arab Emirates, Japan and Korea.
  • In total, under the leadership of S. Berdalin, the national team of Kazakhstan played 20 matches: +6-10=4, balls 24-35 (40% of points scored).
  • Biggest win: 11.06.1997. Lahore. Pakistan – Kazakhstan 0:7.
  • Top story: S. Berdalin is the only coach in the qualifying round of the XV World Cup 1998 of all the coaches of the final stage of the AFC qualification, whose Kazakhstan national team did not lose a single match at home!
